People in the Kingdom take their time getting to business. It is a sign of respect to take your time. The person you are speaking to is worth it. Ask about family, but never about a man's wife. That is thought to be inappropriate. Often a beverage is required from the days of traveling the deserts to allow people to refresh and get comfortable before asking someone to engage in business.
Certain gestures are problematic. Don't punch your fist into your other hand, or make a clenched fist at all. Don't point or raise a single finger. Don't raise your feet to where people can see the bottom of your footwear. If you are wearing something that might obsucre the footwear, showing the footwear at all is a problem. Basically, do not be an Alpha and always be seen to be considering others.
Never eat with your left hand. Even more so when not using utensils. The left hand is often used for personal hygiene and so using it with finger foods, especially shared plates, is quite gross and inconsiderate. Be considerate by being aware of those around you. There is a lot of consideration as to who should eat when. Just look for approval around the room to make sure you are not insulting someone on accident.
Never cause someone to lose face. You don't want to embarrass someone. Comfortable jibes among Americans can be taken the wrong way. Remember to be formal in this regard. Don't try to overcompensate by complimenting things in their possession. Some more traditional Saudis can take that as an obligation to offer that item to you, which refusing could be considered an insult. Don't go to the holy places as they are reserved for those in prayer.
WE CARE FOR YOU! We care for you and your guests. We will discuss your desires for safety measures regarding Covid-19 and want you to feel secure in the knowledge that we are looking out for you, our client.
Most of our Arabian Peninsula and Persian Gulf Team Building Events are conducted in English. It tends to be the shared common language, though may need some adjustments for varying cultures and backgrounds. Pop culture, for instance, might not be as shared. We discuss your needs and adjust.
We can operate these corporate events in a bilingual environment. You would let us know your concerns and we can incorporate these into your program. We will go over rates and fees and determine the best approach.
We do have facilitators from all over the world who can operate for your group remotely or in-person in a variety of languages. Simply reach out and ask and we can work on developing options for your needs.
Riyadh is the home to most of the American companies operating in the Kingdom. These tend to be more white collar employees as well as gathering spots for anyone in the region.
This port city is more operational and provides a wonderful backdrop for getting together at a location symbolic of the transfer from the Kingdom to the rest of the world.
The area around this city has a large number of working class employees who are responsible for the major efforts that make things happen. home to more of the workers that get the work done. They come to this city for their meetings and training.
This is the port of entry for employees in the area, and serves as a meeting place to go over any training required.
As with the other working areas in the Kingdom, there are amazing sights and people to work with while bonding the employees to one another.
